David Joe Hamilton

David was born Dec. 20, 1952, in Bonifay, Florida. He departed this life Aug. 9, 2014. "Big Dave" is survived by his loving wife Nancy, sons Ian and Morgan, daughters Stephanie, Elizabeth, and Heather, granddaughter Chambryn, all of Pensacola; and parents Bob and Mavis and brother Michael of Savannah, Georgia.

He cherished family, friends and Country. He served in the Army as a Green Beret, and finished his career in the Navy, working his way up through the ranks to Chief Petty Officer.

After retiring, Dave started his second career at DRS in Ft. Walton Beach as an electronics technician extraordinaire, where he leaves behind many good friends.

Dave was known as a storyteller, historian, jokester, athlete, true friend, and loving family member. He is loved and leaves in each of us an empty space, but also many happy memories.

A Memorial Service was held Aug. 15 at the Pensacola Lighthouse, where he volunteered many happy hours. He will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Pensacola Lighthouse Association, Inc. in memory of David J. Hamilton.
