Dennis "Bogus" Clay Burton, Jr.
Dennis "Bogus" Clay Burton, Jr. 61, of Pace, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013.
Dennis was a native of Lauderdale County, Alabama where he was a graduate of Central High School and attended the University of North Alabama on a football scholarship before joining the Navy and serving in Vietnam. After leaving the Navy, Dennis was a firefighter at Naval Air Station Whiting Field before going to work for the Naval Air Depot where he served as a civilian in Desert Strom and finally retired after 32 years of civil service. He was an avid hunter and Harley rider.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Clay Burton Sr. and Mary Broadfoot Burton; brother, Thomas Broadfoot Burton; grandparents, Thomas Wesley Broadfoot Sr. and Emily Darby Broadfoot and Thomas Howard Burton and Mary Burton.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jeanene Burton; sons, Michael (Kirsten) Burton, Pace, Fl, Wayne (Peggy) Bannier, Bartow, Fl, Richard Block, Pensacola, Fl; daughters, Tara Knauff, Pace, Fl, Kerry Hubble, Pensacola, Fl; and countless grandchildren and great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services for Dennis will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Lewis Funeral Home in Pace with Norman Sullivan, pastor of The Living Truth Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Barrancas National Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, May 16, 2013, prior to the funeral services at the Lewis Funeral Home in Pace.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during the last few months.
