Donald Dean Hoffmann of New Bern, NC was welcomed by our Lord January 20, 2013. Don was born on November 22, 1934 in Mineola, NY to Charles and Viola Hoffmann. Don served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He returned to Long Island and on July 9th, 1960 married Frances Bardwell. During that time he began his career with Eastern Airlines. He worked at Eastern for 26 years at Idlewild Airport (JFK International), LaGuardia Airport, Charlotte-Douglas Airport, Bradley Field in Hartford, CT. and Pensacola Regional Airport. Don was also a Police Officer, and later Police Chief for the Town of Wales, MA, from 1971 to 1979. The family moved to Gulf Breeze in 1982. Don and Fran remained in Gulf Breeze until 2005 when they relocated to New Bern. Don was preceded in his journey by his parents and his brother, Roy. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Fran; his son, Curt Hoffmann of Bayboro, NC, and his daughter Vicky and son in law Tim McCabe of Gulf Breeze, FL. Don was a devout Lutheran and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church while in Pensacola. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Havelock, NC. There will be a memorial service for Don at Immanuel Lutheran, 24 W. Wright St., on February 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. followed by inurnment at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund; 305 US 70 West, Havelock, NC 28532
