Dorothy Beatrice Poe DaValt went to her Heavenly Home on January 15, 2013. She was the widow of Clarence DaValt, Sr. She was born on December 25, 1914 in Jacksonville, FL.
Mrs. DaValt taught school over 50 years in Escambia County. Some of her many accomplishments were DCT Coordinator Booker T. Washington High School, Classroom Teacher, President of the NEA, Member of Santa Rosa School Authority, USO-YMCA Program Director Panama City, FL, Local Democratic Precinct Committee Woman, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Past President of Escambia County Teachers Association, and many other accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Clarence J. DaValt, Sr.; two sons, Clarence J. DaValt, II and Vincent P. DaValt.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories four granddaughters, Vivienne LaFraance DaValt (devoted caregiver), Vincene McLain, Margaret DaValt, and Sanudre G. Wilson DaValt; three grandsons, Stephen M. (Joyce) DaValt, Kerrick B. (Larceeda) DaValt, and Clarence J. DaValt, III; daughter-in-law, Jean DaValt; four great-grands; four great-great-grands; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 528 West Jackson Street in Pensacola.
