Harold E. Goff, Sr.

On April 7, 2014, the Lord took his son, Harold Edward Goff, Sr. to his final resting place. He was born on Sept. 20, 1930 to Harold and Mary Gertrude (Duenich) Goff in Utica, NY.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Marie Jeff and Helen Torraco.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Catherine (Haupert) Goff; his sisters, Roberta Gigliotti, Carol Santucci, and Judy Cookinham, all of Utica, NY; his children, Eddie (Laurie) Goff of Pensacola, Richard (Karen) Goff of Jacksonville, AR, and Lisa (Bryan) Craft of Pensacola; grandchildren, Samuel (Ashley) Goff of Birmingham, AL, Erika (Nick) Bumgardner of MeGhee, AR, David (Cytanna) Goff of Benton, AR, Brian (April), Dustin, Joshua (Valerie), and Dakota Craft of Pensacola, FL, Sarah and Colton Chesser of Jacksonville, AR and 15 great-grandchildren.

Harold served in the US Navy and was stationed in Pensacola where he met the love of his life, Catherine. After leaving the Navy, he stayed in Pensacola. He worked for the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier until his retirement. He also volunteered as a Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary Trooper. He was one of the first in that program, joining in 1955. In his 50 plus years with the FHPA, he worked to bring the program to what it is today. He rose in the ranks to become Colonel of the FHPA, where he worked tirelessly to improve the program. He retired from them in 2007 with the rank of Major. He also enjoyed the time he spent with the Pensacola Interstate Fair, Don Frenkel and all the people associated with the Fair over the past 50 years.

He was also a member of the Warrington American Legion Post 240, Pensacola, the Elk's Lodge of Warrington and the Knight's of Columbus Counsel 778, Pensacola.

We want to thank the staff of Sacred Heart Hospital, the ICU unit, Progressive Care and St. Catherine's wing for their help in making his last days as comfortable as possible.
