Kathleen (Kathy) Kane Schultze Lees was born on November 4, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest daughter of David and Catherine Kane. She grew up in Pensacola, Florida and graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School in 1957.

In 1958, Kathy married Barrett R. Schultze, a Marine Corps aviator. She and Barry were blessed with two sons, and upon completion of Barry's military service, they moved to Minneapolis (Mound), Minnesota where Barry was a pilot for Northwest Airlines and Kathy worked as a procurement expediter for General Mills.

In 1980, Kathy and Dr. George E. Lees married and moved to Bryan-College Station, Texas when George joined the faculty of the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University. In the 1980s, Kathy worked as an administrative assistant in the Entomology Division of the Texas Agriculture Extension Service. She subsequently participated in a variety of endeavors before retiring in 2001.

Kathy was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and friends, as well as her four-legged 'children' (several Labrador Retrievers and a black cat). In her time Kathy was very athletic; during the first half of her 33 years in Bryan-College Station, she participated in many softball, bowling, and golf leagues and tournaments. In more recent years she enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. Kathy was a great joy to know and dear friend to everyone whose life she touched.

Kathy is survived by her husband, George E. Lees of Bryan, Texas; her son Joseph D. Schultze of Mound, MN; brothers Thomas Kane and John J. Clark of Pensacola, FL, and Edward Kane of Rogers, AR; grandchildren Kathryn and Julianne Schultze of Killeen, TX, and Nathan Schultze of Mound, MN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and step-parents, her sister Patricia Neylon of Chicago, IL, and her son Michael J. Schultze of Lubbock, TX.

Kathy was sustained throughout her life by her strong Christian faith and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the or to the Saint Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund.
