Mr. Lewis Maxton Johnson, age 79, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.
Mr. Johnson was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Born in Harnett County, North Carolina on October 14, 1934, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952. He met and married his wife Janie in 1954, and they had six children. Mr. Johnson retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 1972, and moved his family to Pensacola. He then enjoyed a long career in civil service, finally retiring in 1996.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie J. Johnson and Myrtle Cercey Johnson; two brothers, Jasper "Carl" Johnson, and Walter "Elmo" Johnson; one sister, Madeline Johnson; his beloved wife of 52 years, Janie Nell Barnett Johnson; and two children, son, Donald W. "Donnie" Johnson, and daughter, Daphne I. Johnson.
He is survived by two brothers, Wilbur (Mildred) Johnson and Larry (Claudya) Johnson; two sisters, Lunette Black and Linda (Phillip) Mulhall; his children, daughter Robin L. Jones, sons Michael A. Johnson, Terry L. (Brenda Versteegh)Johnson; and Kevin B. (Tina) Johnson; grandchildren, Heather Johnson, Kristin (Mike) Bolton, Kimberly (Michael) Goertz, Jessica (Peter) Carnicelli, Lauri (Mark) Kirkland, Marina Johnson, Taylor Johnson, and Samantha Johnson; great-grandchildren, Kiley Southern, Madison Southern, Noah Carnicelli, Hunter Martin, Jayda Goertz, Gabriel Goertz, Jordan Goertz, Greisen Goertz, Dominic Marzette, Taylor Deleon, Jenna DeLeon, Audrey Kirkland, and Nora Kirkland; and a host of special friends and relatives.
Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, Florida, from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014. Graveside service and interment will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Barrancas National Cemetery.
