1922 - 2014
Lillian Nelda Valentini Trostle went to be with our Lord on the morning of Saturday, February 1st, 2014; she was 91. Lillian passed away in her home, with her family at her side, after a year-long battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lynette Thompson-Trostle and Son-in-Law David Trostle, Jr.; devoted grandsons David Trostle, III and his wife Gena; Glenn Trostle; and Jason Trostle and his wife, Christine. She was the cherished great-grandmother of Aubry, Makenzie, and Tanner Trostle; and Carson Trostle-Stacy and her husband Tad; and was the proud great-great-grandmoter of Walker Stacy; as well as the dear Aunt of many nieces and nephews and their families.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, David Trostle, Sr.; her son, Robert Thompson, Jr.; and nine sister and brothers.
Born in Lorain, Ohio on March 2nd, 1922, "Lilliput" moved to Pensacola in 1974. She was a member of Cokesbury Methodist Church, and worked at West Florida Hospital's Emergency Room, when the facility was first opened, as a certified nursing assistant, later going on to work at Azalea Trace.
She loved volunteering at Escambia AIDS Service and Education, cooking meals twice each week for its clients. She also served meals at Cokesbury Methodist Church during weekly Wednesday dinners, and was a greeter at Sunday morning services.
Lillian was an avid dancer, belonging to the Over-Fifty-Five club, Civil Air Club, and Elk's Club. Her favorite pastime was playing cards on Sunday afternoons with her friends, and of course, playing BINGO. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her, and her sense of humor and capacity to care for others will continue to live on in her memory.
Her family invites you to join them in celebrating her life with visitation at 10:00am and Service at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 5725 North Ninth Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel has been entrusted with the privilege of arrangements.
