Morris Schneider

1921-2014

Morris ("Pee Wee") Schneider passed from this world to his heavenly home on March 28, 2014. He was born in Manhattan, New York City and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served as an Aviation Ordnanceman Third Class (AO3) from September 1942 to February 1946. He has been a lifelong resident of Pensacola ever since following his service in the Navy, Morris relocated to Pensacola, Florida and served for 42 years as an aircraft mechanic at the Naval Aircraft Rework Facility (NARF) at NAS Pensacola, working on a variety of naval aircraft, including the famed Blue Angels' jets, other fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. His fondest memories at NARF was his assignment with the CH-53E Super Stallions helicopter overhaul team at "Fort Fumble" (Bldg. 607). A devoted husband and a loving father, Morris was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred Creighton Schneider and his sons, Morris Schneider, Jr. and Creighton "Creig" Schneider. He is survived by daughters Gloria (Bill) Pearce, Victoria (Frederick) Wilmot and Karen Thoennes, and son Joseph (Rita) Schneider; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. In grateful acknowledgement, the family would like to recognize the staff of the Sterling House, Regency Hospices and Dr. McHoltra and his nurses, as well as special friends Bob Whitlock, Phyllis Trout, Curtis Smart and Millie Bluchard, for their loving care and friendship. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of his beloved dog "Scottie", contributions may be made to the Escambia County Animal Shelter, 200 W. Fairfield Dr., Pensacola, FL 32501.

Visitation will be at 12:00 PM and funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Faith Chapel Funeral Home at 100 Brent Lane, Pensacola, with interment at Whitmire Cemetery following the service.
