Bobby Roy was unexpectedly taken from us early Sunday morning. Bobby was proud to serve his country for almost 16 years as a Chief in the United States Navy. Currently he is stationed at NAS Whiting Field, although it's only been 3 months, he has made relationships here that will last a lifetime.
Bobby pledged to serve God and his country from an early age. He grew up participating in the Sea Cadets program on the NAS in Brunswick Maine. After graduating from high school in 1997, he officially joined the Navy and was stationed to the newest aircraft carrier at the time, CVN 75 Harry S Truman. During his tenure on the Truman he was temporarily placed on CVN-71 Theodore Roosevelt to assist in the Kosovo conflict. During his career in the Navy he has been stationed at Brunswick Naval Air Base, CVN 77 George H.W. Bush, and CVN-70 Carl Vinson.
It was his time served in Brunswick Maine where he met and fell in love with his wife Jessica Heino Roy. They were married in 2004 and have two amazing boys, Christian Michael Keith, and Brady Joseph Jean. The boys were Bobby's whole life and he was excited to get a shore duty so he knew he could be there for his children. He loved coaching their baseball teams and teaching them numerous sports and video games.
Bobby was an avid dart and softball player. He won many tournaments and accolades as an extremely impressive dart player. He had a strong passion for his family and everyone is saddened of his loss. He leaves behind his wife and two kids, his parents Jane and Don Rivard of Lisbon Maine, a brother Ricky Rivard of San Diego California, a sister Ashley Rivard of Lisbon Maine, a grandmother Joan Sweeney of Lisbon Maine and so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones.
He was pre-deceased by his father Robert Roy of Lewiston Maine, grandmother and Grandfather Rose Roy and Herve J. Roy of Lewiston, Maine and other close family members and friends.
There will be a memorial service for Bobby Thursday May 2nd at 2pm at NAS Whiting Field Chapel. For donations to the family The Robert Roy Memorial fund has been set up at Pen Air Federal Credit Union.
