Thelma S. Cohn
Thelma S. Cohn, long-time Pensacola resident, passed away in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday morning, December 13, at the age of 92.
Thelma was the cherished wife of Richard G. "Dick" Cohn, of blessed memory. She is survived by her son, Richard, Jr. (Marsha); her grandchildren, David Cohn (Sarah Ruben), Jeremy Cohn, Adam Lerner (Jill) and Rebecca Lerner; and her great-granddaughter, Emma Lerner. She was the loving mother of Joanne Cohn Yocum, of blessed memory; the devoted daughter of Nellie S. and Leon B. Levy, and of Herman Stein; and the caring daughter-in-law of Gabriel and Miriam Cohn.
Thelma and Dick Cohn were married in Pensacola in 1946, and they enjoyed almost sixty-five years of life together. Thelma was a graduate of Pensacola High School and of Louisiana State University, where she was president of Sigma Delta Tau sorority. She was a highly dedicated member of the Sisterhood at Temple Beth-El, an enthusiastic regular at the Pensacola Bridge Club, and a dear friend to many throughout the Pensacola area.
Most of all, Thelma was committed to the well-being of her family, and she was characterized by a caring disposition and a spirit of service to others.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 17, 2012; 12:00 p.m. at Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home, 124 West Gregory Street, Pensacola, FL. Interment will take place at Beth-EL Cemetery. Rabbi Joel Fleekop will be officiating. A reception will follow at Temple Beth-El.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome to any cause of special meaning to the donor.
