Walter Cleophus Capps


Walter Cleophus Capps, age 91, went to be in Heaven on December 21, 2013. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Walter was born in East Flat Rock, NC on March 9, 1922. He was a resident of Pensacola, FL since 1955.

Walter proudly served in the US Navy for 22 years. Walter served in WWII, Korean War, Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam. Walter was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Naval Fleet Reserve. Following his retirement he spent 22 years employed at the Navy Commissary.

Walter married his love Dorothy Capps, 51 years ago. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell & Dovey Capps.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy Capps; son, James Michael Capps; 3 grandchildren, Steven Capps, Jacqueline Capps, Jessica Douglas (Josh); 4 great grandchildren, Austin, Aiden, Hailyn and Alijah.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Sunday, December 29th from 2-4:00PM. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:30am with interment to follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
