TELL CITY - Herman Reutman, 86, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehab Hillcrest in Owensboro, Ky.
He was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Ferdinand to the late Joseph and Caroline (Lindeman) Reutman.
A Korean War Army veteran, Herman was united in marriage July 4, 1959, to Mabel VanWinkle. He was a hod carrier and worked numerous construction projects throughout southwestern Indiana.
He was a member of Laborer's International Union Local 561 Evansville, St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 in Evansville and Indiana Free Mason Lodge 623 in Tell City.
Formerly of Evansville and Tell City, Herman had resided the past two years in Owensboro with his caretakers, Linda and Lee C. Berg Jr.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Leroy VanWinkle and his wife, Fronie of Tell City; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his beloved wife of 51 years, Mabel (VanWinkle) Reutman; his children, Roger Dale, David Allen and Gloria Gale; his parents and a sister, Mary T. Berg.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital and St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
