Herman W. Theis, 82, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills in Tell City.

He was born in Perry County June 10, 1930, son of the late Ferdinand and Bertha (George) Theis. Also preceding him in death were a brother, Charles Theis and his sisters, Lucille Dauby, Mabel Dauby, Georgia Rust and Margaret Bolin.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Herman served two tours during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Brinksneader June 23, 1962, at St. Pius Catholic Church.
Herman was a self-employed farmer and was owner and operator of Theis Sawmill. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939, enjoyed shooting matches, gardening and wood and metal working.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Theis; a daughter, Theresa 'Terri' Shane (Rick) of Kalamazoo, Mich.; his sons, Mike Theis (Terri) of Tell City, Mark Theis of Troy, Dan Theis of Tell City and Jason Theis of Henryville, and his grandchildren, Jessica, Julia, Jillian, Jonathan, Jarrett and Jacob Theis and Emily and Lauren Shane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at St. Pius Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 2939. The Rev. Sengole Thomas G. will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, and from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
