Ray J. Flamion, 81, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
He was born in Perry County Feb. 6, 1931, son of the late Albert and Ethel Josephine "Josie" (Wheatley) Flamion. Also preceding him in death were a sister, Veronia Flamion and brothers Willard, Marcus and Gerald Flamion.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and lifetime farmer. He was united in marriage to Janie Allen Nov. 27, 1958, at St. Michael Catholic Church.
Ray was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, American Legion Post 213 and Ohio Valley Tractor Association. He enjoyed farming, playing euchre and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janie Flam-ion; his sons, Roger Flamion (Kay) of St. Croix, Ricky Flamion (Denise) of St. Croix, Jeff Flamion (Lisa) of St. Croix and Bruce Flamion (Sue) of Ferdinand; his sisters, Rosemary Etienne of Leopold, Evelyn Harpenau of Branchville, Cornelia Harpenau of LeRoy, Ill., Jean Etienne of Tell City and Sue Hessig of St. Croix; his brothers, Donald Flamion of Tell City and Andrew Flamion of Leopold; 10 grandchildren, Anthony, Bradley, Amanda, Jessica, Aaron, Cassandra, Mackenzie, Emily, Cody and Brent and two great-grandchildren, Adalyne and Camden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 213. The Rev. Brian Esarey will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10 (today) and from 9 until 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Cemetery.
