DONALD M., 88, husband of M. June (Hanson) Weiland of Phoenixville PA, died on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Son of late Frank B. and Helen (Martin) Weiland.
Don served in United States Navy during n World War II; member of St. Basil the Great Catholic Church. Don was a member of a well-regarded golfing family, playing golf daily with his siblings, competed in tournaments throughout Phila-delphia; qualified in match play in 12 consecutive Gap Amateur Championship; made Mason-Dixon team six times; competed in U.S. Open in 1950 and 1953 and won Nigerian Open. Don was a PGA Member for over 60 years, active member of Phoenixville Country Club, Aronimink Golf Club and Pine Valley Country Club.
Don was a loving husband, grandfather ,brother and uncle. Survived by wife, June and several stepchildren; brothers, Frank Weiland Sr., Doug Weiland; sister, Nancy Lanahan and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Pete Weiland and sister, Rie Noble. Memorial contributions may be made to Southeastern Veterans Center, One Veterans Drive, Spring City PA 19475 and/or St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, PO Box 637, Kimberton PA 19442.
