ELIZABETH DAVISON "BETTY", 106, Cornwall Manor, Cornwall, died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Manor. She was the wife of the late Rev. Dr. Alexander K. Smith whom she married in 1951 and who passed away in October 1972. Born in Philadel-phia, September 14, 1906, she was a daughter of the late James M. and Mary Alice Streepy Davison.
Betty graduated from German-town High School in 1924, Philadelphia Normal School in 1926, earned her B.S. in 1941 and her M.S. in 1943, both from the University of Pennsylvania. She was an elementary school teacher and principal in the Philadelphia School system for 25 years. She was one of the first female principals appointed in the district, an accomplishment made by few females at that time. She retired upon her marriage to Alex to help in his duties as District Superintendent in three different districts of the United Methodist Church and later when he became Adminis-trative Assistant to Bishop Fred P. Corson.
Betty was a member of Arch Street UM Church since 1928 and Cornwall UM Church since 1982. She was a member of Eta Chapter of Pi Lamda Theta National Educational Honor Sorority, DAR and Philadel-phia, Pennsylvania and National Retired Teachers Associations. She was an active member of many organizations associated with the UM Church and Cornwall Manor of the UM Church, including the Cornwall Manor Society where in 1986, she was honored with the Cornwall Manor Founders Day Award for her years of service since the founding of Cornwall Manor. She and her late husband were very active in helping establish and build the Bishop Corson Camp in Puerto Rico, during the late 1950's and early 1960's.
She was truly blessed with Alex's wonderful family and is survived by step-daughter, Barbara S. Fulton, York; grandchildren, Jeffrey, husband of Deborah Fulton, York; Timothy, husband of Joan Fulton, York; Wendy, wife of William Schultz, Los Angeles, CA; great grandchildren, Jeffrey Alexander Fulton, II, Ian Fulton, Ava Alexandra Schultz; great great grand-children, Brody, Evan, and Elisa Fulton.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Betty's memorial service on Saturday, June 29, 203 at 3 P.M. from Zerr Chapel of Cornwall Manor, Cornwall, PA 17016 with the Rev. Marry Ellen Beckman and Rev. James Heath officiating. Casket Entombment was made in Chelten Hills Abby, Philadel-phia. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in Betty's memory may be made to the Benevolent Fund of Cornwall Manor, P.O. Box 125, Cornwall, PA 17016.
