She was a good friend of my friend CAMMIE KING CONLON who played BONNIE Butler in GONE WTH THE WIND. When I remarked to Cammie about how much I had LOVED Judy's book I had read at a friend's house, about 2 week later a package came from JUDY LEWIS...inside was a book inscribed to me with the following--TO GEORGE TERRELL--ANy friend of Cammie's is a friend of mine-- What a wonderfully thoughtful thing to do. I treasure it to theis day. I think she was a remarkable woman...

Dear Family,
I never knew your loved one but have read so much about her and admire her accomplishments.
My family was from Gladwynne and we spent 35 years "down the shore" in Longport.
Ironically, we have family interred at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
She was truly a gift.
Sincerely,
The Rev. Dr. Thomas Tomlinson

I just now learned of Judy's passing, as it was mentioned in Frank Langella's book. I had the pleasure of knowing Judy when we both worked on GENERAL HOSPITAL and we stayed in touch for a long time. To me, Judy embodied the deep compassion one achieves through self-reflection, the practice of forgiveness, and the nurturing of a sincere desire to heal. Being in that place, she was beautifully equipped to help others heal as well. What a blessing! I count myself among the many who were fortunate to have known her.

One of the things I will miss most about Judy, is her loud, deep, belly laugh...and also the way she would just start dancing to music out of the blue, not caring if anyone was watching or not. She had a very wise, gentle way of offering me guidance and advice...and she would arch her eyebrow, lower her head and look at me sideways, when I really was off-track or I needed a reality check! Judy was hilarious, when she would stand in front of the TV, yelling at George Bush, Jr., and touching when she would tear up looking at films or videos about her father. We had a spat once in a French restaurant, that made the waiter turn around and walk away! I hope Judy is one of my angels now. I've asked her to be. I want to keep her around. Judy was my my mentor, the wise, older female in my life...but, most of all, she was my closest friend. I will miss her more than words can say. (Pamela Cameron)

Times like this make us sad. But, there is “a time to weep.” (Ecclesiastes 3:4) Yet you can have the hope of seeing your love one. Jesus said “Do not let your be hearts be troubled”. (John 14:27) Sometimes we may feel paralyzed by a tragedy such as this. Remember: God can help you to endure any and every problem we may face.
He will give you the “power beyond what is normal” to go from one day to the next. (2 Corinthians 4:7)
You have my Deepest Sympathy.

I am so saddened to hear of Judy's passing . Judy was my social worker when I was a resident at St. Annes maternity home is 1996-1997 . She was a wonderful person who touched so many young lives as she did mine . I just want her loved ones to know how much she did for teen moms such as myself . She was tough yet very loving . I can't count how many times she consoled me as I cried in her arms . I will alway's remember how much she did for me in a time of great need . Thank you Judy , I love you

What a beautiful picture to post! Ms. Lewis was a beautiful woman and I know you will miss her tremendously. I know that losing a loved one in death is not a easy thing to get over.
Many people say that each person has a time to go but the Bible shares with us that unforeseen occurences befall us all.-Ecclesiastes 9:11.
Moreover, if we were all predestined to die at a certain time, why are we so careful about dangers. Why do we heed warnings and make sure others around us heed them too?
Yes, it is because we value our life and we do not want to die or have our loved ones to die either. The Bible says God put eternity in our hearts.-Ecclesiastes 3:11
Please know that in the near future God will make all things news and we will get to live the way God purposed the earth to be in the beginning.
Stay encouraged and continued to find the great things about Ms. Lewis that make you smile.

For those of us who followed Judy's life from afar for decades she represents a person who attained greatness and achievement amid unusual challenges. When I was 8 or 9 my parents took me to a preview in Riverside, California of "But Not for Me". I believe it was one of Clark Gable's last movies. I was just standing around when my mother thrust me into a crowd of people. Suddenly Clark Gable was smiling at me and giving me his autograph.. His whole face lit up when he saw that I was a little girl and not an adult fan. Best wishes to all.

So very sorry to learn of Judy's passing. I am a cousin of Eunice Berger who was a nanny and nurse for Loretta in Judy's early years in the Los Angeles area. I met Judy in 1985 while she was visiting Eunice in Vancover, Washington state. She spoke most recently of her move to Palm Springs and invited me to stop by and have dinner with her and Steve Rowland. She sounded most happy with her move and situation in Palm Springs. A great counselor and friend. Her laugh was terrific!! Dan W. Hiebert, [email protected]

Judy was a wonderful person. I was able to spend a wonderful afternoon with her and I was more impressed with her humor and sense of reality and self in her telling of her own life than I was her "pedigree". Dear Maria:
I'm shocked and saddened to hear of your mother's passing. I last spoke with her shortly after she moved to Palm Springs. It seemed fitting and full circle that she was drawn there as she had so many friends there and that your grandmother had lived there as well. I met her when we worked together at SZM while she was studying for her degree and we enjoyed many fun times over the next 24 years. Because of her empathy, wry sense of humor (she could be quite wicked on occasion!) and complete lack of pretense she became (and will always remain)one of my favorite people. I don't think there was a time when we were together that she didn't mention you and the kids - you were the light of her life. Goodnight sweet Judy, I am forever privileged to have had you in my life.
