LEO STEVEN, 82 of Phila., died Friday, November 22, 2013 at Vitas Hospice Inpatient Unit at Jefferson Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia. He was the husband of Marlene DiCamillo Santore.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Sam Santore and the late Mary Fulginiti Santore. Leo served during the Korean War in the United States Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant from August 16, 1948 to August 1, 1952 and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Leo worked for the Unites States Postal Inspection Service for 37 years and as a waiter at Dante & Luigi's Restaurant in Philadelphia for 40 years. He then worked for the city of Philadelphia for 10 years before retiring. A very family oriented man; he enjoyed traveling and vacationing during his retirement. He was known to all as "Uncle Leo".
In addition to his wife, he survived by his two sons, Michael S. (Jennifer) Santore of Newtown, and Steven T. Santore of Philadelphia, daughter, Lisa M. (Karl) Schlieber of Seattle, WA, grandchildren: Angela (Burke) Santore-Pushman, Ariana Santore, Eric (Veronica) Schlieber, Marissa Schlieber and one great-grandchild, and a brother, Frank Santore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Padova.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his Funeral Mass, 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Holy Spirit Church 1845 Hartranft St., Phila., PA 19145. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday, December 1, 2013 and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 2, 2013 at the PENNSYLVANIA BURIAL CO., INC., 1327-29 S. Broad St., Phila., PA 19147. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
