Amelia Eloyce Adams NORFOLK - Dr. Amelia Eloyce Adams, 72, passed away Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at her home in Norfolk. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William "Pete" and Millie Elizabeth Adams; one sister, Willette Miran; and two brothers, William Seaborn and Elmer Prince. Amelia grew up in Hugo, Okla. She received her bachelor's degree from Prairie View A&M, Texas, and master's degree from Oklahoma State. Amelia completed her doctorate degree in clothing and textiles from Penn State University and was an associate professor at South Carolina State at Orangeburg for a few years prior to moving to Virginia in 1973. She retired from Norfolk State University in 2003 after teaching in the home economics department for 30 years. With a passion for education, bridge and Christian life, she lived a good life and will be greatly missed. Amelia (Eloyce) is survived by her brother, Patrick and wife Judy; her niece, Angela and husband Kevin; a host of cousins, extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Bayside Church of Christ, 5025 Shell Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455, 757-617-8046.
