Norfolk - Carl "Bill" William Harmon Sr., 82, passed away on November 3, 2012.
Mr. Harmon was born in Painter, Virginia on the Eastern Shore and resided in Norfolk most of his life. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl W. Harmon Jr.
Mr. Harmon was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from the Coast Guard Reserve after twenty years of service and from Norfolk Southern Railroad after thirty-seven years of service as an electrician. He was a Mason and member of the Moose Lodge, Son's of the Confederate and Tidewater Harley Owners Group.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-one years Barbara Ellen Harmon, a son, Michael Tracy Harmon, a brother, John Lee Harmon and wife, Nancy; a grandson, Blair Harmon Crass and a great grandson, William Anthony Harmon and a daughter-in-law, Janet B. Harmon.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012, 2 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel.
