New Kent - Clarence Robert "Bob" Bush, 86, formerly of Chesapeake, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in New Kent County, Va. on March 27, 2014. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 62 years, Freda Irene Bush; one daughter, Dr. Leah Linda E. Bush of New Kent, Va.; one granddaughter, Austin E. Butler, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Ethel Simpson of Clifton Forge, Va. and Virginia Jenkins of Richmond, Ky.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Bush served his country as a World War II Veteran in Japan, a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and a retired school principal with the Department of Defense Dependents' Overseas Schools. Bob Bush was a 33 degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of both the Covington Moose Lodge and VFW Post 1033. A memorial service will be held at Arritt Funeral Home in Covington, Va. at 2pm on May 3, 2014, Bob's birthday, with a graveside service to follow at Persinger Memorial Cemetery in Alleghany County, Va. The family will visit with friends after the service at a location to be disclosed at the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to VFW Post #1033, 710 E.
