Norfolk - On Sunday, April 27, 2014, God called home his faithful servant, Dianne L. Thompson. She was born in Norfolk, VA, on August 21, 1949, to the late Vernon Edwards and Thelma Alston Edwards. Dianne was a 1967 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and a 1971 graduate of Norfolk State University. Dianne was a beloved member of the Norfolk community and led programs for children at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Second Calvary Baptist Church. Dianne spent her career as an elementary school teacher at St. Mary's Academy and later as an educator at the Naval Child Development Center. Dianne leaves behind to cherish her memories, a son, Henry A. Thompson II; a daughter, Joi A. Thompson; their father, Henry A. Thompson Sr.; two sisters, Cynthia E. Fields and Veronica E. Haynes and a host of other relatives and friends. Dianne lived by the motto "When we allow the Lord to truly fight our every battle, victory will always be ours".
Family will greet family and friends at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2, at the Metropolitan Funeral Service at 7246 Granby St. Norfolk, VA 23505. Dianne's Home Going Celebration will be at 10:00am on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Second Calvary Baptist Church, 2940 Corprew Avenue Norfolk, VA 23504.
