Elizabeth Black "Beth" Tynch Obituary
Beth Tynch
Portsmouth - Elizabeth Black "Beth" Tynch, 69, of Portsmouth went to the Lord on the beautiful spring day of April 17, 2013. She was born in Norfolk and was preceded in death by her father, John A. Black. Beth graduated from Old Dominion University, was an elementary school teacher for both the Portsmouth and Suffolk Public Schools, was the business manager for Tidewater Castings, their family business, and was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Circle. She enjoyed her family, especially her four grandchildren, shows, music, traveling and helping people.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John L. Tynch Jr.; two sons, John L. Tynch III "Jack" and his wife Kirsten and Christian L. Tynch Sr. and his wife Priscilla; her mother, Bernice F. Keat; a sister, Pamela B. Hill; four grandchildren, Lane, Riley, Logan and Callen Tynch; and a host of other extended family and loving friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 in Centenary United Methodist Church by the Revs. Wayne Carter and Lisa Nordan. Entombment will be private in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 3312 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA 23703.
