George T. Drumwright Sr.

Norfolk - George T. Drumwright Sr. peacefully passed away on December 19, 2013. He was a graduate of Maury High School, a World War II veteran, and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eunice; daughter-in-law, Trisha Barnette; half-sister, Ruth Griffin. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, George Drumwright Jr. and wife Susan, Richard Drumwright and wife Pearl, and Barry Drumwright and wife Kathy; his 6 loving grandchildren Joshua and wife Love, Paul, Kathryn, Kent and wife Jackie, Dean and Nicole. George is also survived by his sister, Doris Alley and husband Lee; and his brother-in-law "Grif" Griffin . George will be greatly missed and remembered always as being kind and wanting to help the less-fortunate. George was a handyman extraordinaire and loved children and family.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 818 Norview Ave. Norfolk, VA. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kings Daughters Hospital, Norfolk, Va.
