Norfolk - George William Young, CWO4 USCG RET. Age 57, of Bumpass, Va. departed this life on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
George was formerly a resident of Norfolk, Va.
George was predeceased by his father, Col. James Patrick Young, Jr. (USMC ret.), his mother, Dorothy McCann Young, and his brother, Robert Edward "Deedle" Young.
George is survived by his loving wife, Vicky and devoted sons Patrick (Ornella), William and Ellis; brothers James P. Young III (Johnna), and John (Mike) Young (Moni); sisters Susan Miller (Bob), Nancy Booher (Bob), Barbara Slotorof (Dave) and Mary Cobb.
George attended both Norfolk Catholic and Granby High Schools and received his Diploma from Granby High School. He also attended and graduated from the Va. Beach Police academy and the Va. State Police academy. George also had enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
As a patrolman with the Va. Beach Police Dept. George was selected to attend the Va. State Police Academy.
As a Va. State Trooper and afterwards George excelled in vehicular accident reconstruction and was often called to various regions for his expert analysis.
George ended his state trooper career and began working for the Virginia Attorney General in the Medicare fraud division. George's career path was interrupted by a call to active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard for overseas duty in the Middle East regions. Upon returning George remained on active duty with the Coast Guard assigned to the intelligence community in the Washington D.C. area. George retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Grade 4.
Funeral services for George will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. , Friday, July 19, at 3 p.m. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery visitor center no later than 2:30pm for the procession to the grave site.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the caregivers at the Virginia Veterans Care Centers in Roanoke and Richmond, Va.
