John A. Campbell

Norfolk - John A. Campbell (Johnnie) passed away on June 02, 2014. John was born 12/11/32 and was a lifetime resident of Ocean View. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 31 years, Donna; daughters Shawn Tanses (Nick), Cindy Keefer, and Ginger Keefer; sons John T. Campbell (Lisa), and Mark Keefer (Jan); sister Helen Flynt; 10 grandchildren, Krystle, Korynn, Holly, Elizabeth, Katy, Katie, Sara, John Tanner, Riley, Madison; 3 great-grandchildren, Tiarra, Ryan, Neil; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John graduated from Granby High School in 1953 and was a graduate of William and Mary, Norfolk Division. He served in the U.S. Navy for 9 years. He was a past/present member of the Shriner's Roadrunner Club, Tidewater American Legion, Scottish Society, Kiwanis, Ocean View Masonic Lodge, Sons of Confederate Veterans, South Norfolk Ruritan Club, Bayside Hunt Club, Clan Campbell Society (NA), Knights Templar, Ocean View Shrine Club, Jaycees, Scottish American Military Society and the Tidewater Shrine Club. John loved to hunt, fish and camp. The family would like to thank Davita Dialysis of Little Creek for the great care they took of John. A memorial service will be held with Masonic Rights on June 14 at 10 a.m. at Miles Memorial Methodist Church, 9450 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA. A reception will follow the memorial service at the Campbell home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital Transportation Fund 645 Woodlake Drive Chesapeake, VA 23320. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.
