John V. Lindsay Jr.

Virginia Beach - John V. Lindsay Jr. (Jack) passed away January 7th 2014 of complications of a fall. Mr. Lindsay was born in Philadelphia on February 17th 1931. Jack was the oldest of three children to John and Helen (Kane) Lindsay. Mr. Lindsay grew up in Southwest Philadelphia and graduated from John Bartram High School where he excelled in basketball. Mr. Lindsay enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean War. His service in the Navy provided him with a lifelong trade as a Lithographer in Philadelphia and South New Jersey.

After his military service, he met and then married his beloved wife Mary Catherine Boyle. They traveled through life together for 54 years. Mr. Lindsay was predeceased by Mary, his daughter Kathy and his brother William. Mr. Lindsay is survived by his son John V. Lindsay, III; sister, Kathleen Burns and her husband Edward; sister-in-law, Margaret Sue Lindsay and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lindsay was a loving and caring man who made countless friends in his life while living in Philadelphia, Yeadon, PA, Haddonfield, NJ and Virginia Beach, VA. He loved his family, his Lord, his country and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Jack will be dearly missed but is in paradise with Mary, Kathy and Bill as well as all his relatives and friends who have gone before us.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Pius X Catholic church, 220 Lawrence Rd., Broomall, PA on January 21, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to call after 9 AM. Internment is to immediately follow at SS. Peter and Paul cemetery, Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Lindsay can be made to Star of the Sea Catholic School, 309, 15th St., Virginia Beach, VA 23451 or www.sosschool.org.
