Norfolk - Joseph T. Hedgepeth, 67, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at home after a courageous battle with cancer and heart disease.
He was born August 27, 1946 to the late Ollen J. Hedgepeth and Virginia Hedgepeth. He went to Princess Anne and Kempsville High Schools. He joined the SIU Merchant Seaman while in high school to see the world. Drafted, he served in the 14th Armd. Cav./U. S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Miller Hedgepeth of 47 years; his son, Joseph T. Hedgepeth, Jr. of Norfolk; his daughter, Eva Dawn Wasseen and husband Jim of Rock Springs; his grandchildren, Isabelle, Jedidiah, Ethan and Alaina; his brother, James Earl Hedgepeth of Killen, Texas; two sisters, Gloria Brown and husband John, and Helen Wiles of Virginia Beach and his brother-in-law, Teddy L. Miller and wife Mary of Norfolk.
He attended Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and became a funeral director. He later became a police officer for the Norfolk Naval Base and retired in 1999. He was a member of Lynnhaven Masonic Lodge #220, Norfolk Order of the Scottish Rite, Eastern Star Chapter 184, Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3504 and the Police Association of Va.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel on August 6, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Good Shepherd Crypt Garden on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at:
