Suffolk - Robert Barnes "Boogie" Flint, 74, entered into eternal rest on March 10, 2014. Boogie was born on Dec. 11, 1939 to Preston Flint and Frances Nicely in Lexington, VA. He enlisted in the Marine Corps when he was 17 years old and was stationed in Japan, Singapore and Lebanon. After being honorably discharged from the Corps, he resided in Charlottesville, VA, Portsmouth, VA and finally settling down in Suffolk, VA. No one who met Boogie forgot his passion for horseshoes where he won numerous tournaments and even a mention in the local paper. His love for sports including football, baseball and NASCAR was also well known to everyone. During his long residence in Suffolk, he was a regular presence in Moose Lodge #141 for 32 years, where he touched many lives with his invaluable friendship and infectious smile.

Boogie is survived by his loving companion and best friend Ruby Russell, his only son Dennis and daughter-in-law Jackie of Charlottesville, VA, his three siblings Geno, Johnnie and Joy Pickett as well as three grandchildren Dennis Jr and wife Genna, Anthony and wife Michelle, and Jennifer, five great grandchildren Kaylee, Karlee, Zander, Cohen and Lavyn. With his extended family, he is survived by children Jeanette, Cheryl and George, grandchildren Michael, Nikki, Katie, Joseph, Philip, Brayden, Tyler and great grandchildren Michael Jr, Alana and Sadie Mae. A memorial service will be held at the Community Church at 1935 Joliff Rd, Chesapeake, VA on Mar. 22, 2014 at 1100. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to either American Heart or s. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the cremation.
