Virginia Beach - Robert L. Nourie went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 14, 2013. Bob was born May 24, 1929 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to Leonard and Edith Nourie. Bob grew up in the Pittsburgh area before attending the University of Notre Dame and returning to run the family business Leonard R Nourie Incorporated. Bob served in the United States Army from May of 1951 to May of 1953 during the Korean conflict. Bob also was president of American Metal Wash in Pittsburgh PA and later Canonsburg PA. Bob was affiliated with several organizations while living in Pittsburgh including the Knights of Columbus, Pittsburgh Packard Club, American Welding Society, Pittsburgh Athletic Club and Upper St. Clair Country Club. Bob's hobbies included restoring and rebuilding classic cars and he was a devoted and active member of St. John Capistran Catholic Church in Pittsburgh serving the parish as a member of the church lectors, parish choir and President of the Parish Council. Upon retiring to Virginia Beach, Bob volunteered his time as an usher for Sunday services at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Bob is predeceased by his brother Tom Nourie and sister Jean Prowse. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years Ann Nourie, his five children; Debbie McKenna and husband Frank, Linda Foster and husband Sandy, Kimberly Prieto and husband Dave, Kathleen Battali and husband Carl, Michael Nourie, and his 9 grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach.
