Virginia Beach - Stanley Lloyd Pianin, MD, passed away on May 5, 2013, in Virginia Beach. Dr. Pianin was born in New York City to the late Isaac Pianin and Sara Pianin. He practiced medicine in New York for over 30 years, served as a medical director of four large nursing homes, and served as a captain in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959. He also served for 6 years as the Medical Director of Fort Story military base in Virginia Beach.
He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from City College of New York and earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Pianin and his wife, Rose, moved from New York to Virginia Beach in 1994.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rose Pianin; three children, Irving A. Pianin and his wife, Christine; Michelle Pianin Stein and her husband, Eric; and Scott Pianin and his wife, Tonya, and their three children, Tori, Tyler, and Sara.
Services were held privately.
Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
