Virginia Beach - Thomas C. Kay, 77, passed away peacefully at home on December 4th 2013. He was born December 17th, 1935 to the late Louis G. and Mary D. Kay. He grew up in Pittsburgh PA where he went to Mount Lebanon High school and later attended Culver Military Academy where he was a member of the Black Horse Troop. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, enlisted in the Air Force and was based at Fitzsimons, Aurora CO and later Andrews Air Force Base in the DC area. He settled in Virginia Beach where he was active in the community as an early supporter of the Virginia Beach Pops, volunteer fundraiser for local political campaigns, manager of the Marshall's Hotel welcoming A.R.E. members during conferences and owner of Tim's Christmas Tree Farm. He authored books 'Dear Amy' and 'When the Comet Runs' translated in several languages and articles about spiritual subjects. He also enjoyed golf, fishing with his family and remained a Steelers and Pirates fan. He fulfilled his dream of having a family farm where he spent his retirement until his passing. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Judith Kay, son Tim Kay and daughter Amy Kay as well as his brothers Bob Kay and Bill Kay and their families. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and Comfort Keepers, Pungo for their excellent care. Donations may be given to the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad in lieu of flowers.
