Walter Irvine Jordan Jr., died on June 3, 2014 in his home. Mr. Jordan, affectionately known as ""Skipper"", was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 16, 1936 to Colonel W. Irvine Jordan, USMC and Genevieve Grimes Jordan.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Lewis Jordan; sons, Walter I. Jordan, III and G. Hatton Jordan and Hatton's wife Melanie; and grandsons, Luke and Sam. He is also survived by his ""girls"", very special family friends.
Mr. Jordan was a graduate of the Norfolk Academy and the University of Virginia. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps after college and later enjoyed a long and successful career as a computer programmer. For pleasure in retirement he wrote hundreds of limericks for OEDILF (Omnificent English Dictionary in Limerick Form), a website for ""word nerds"" devoted to five line poetry.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, Virginia on June 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Portsmouth Humane Society, 4022 Seaboard Court, Portsmouth, VA 23701.
