Wilbert Robert Lee Jr.

Chesapeake - Wilbert Robert Lee Jr. known to his friends as Bob, and as Junior to close family, passed away from this world on April 6, 2014. Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Mary Louise White Lee, his daughters Kimberly Crawford of Fredericksburg and Laurian Newell of Norfolk, three grandchildren: Kord Crawford and Elizabeth Crawford Spain of Fredericksburg and Caroline Newell of Norfolk, Virginia. three great grandchildren: Ronan Crawford, Austin Crawford Spain and Mattox Lee Crawford Spain, all of Fredericksburg, and two brothers, Nelson Lee of Hobucken, North Carolina and Vernon Lee of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Bob was born to Iva Mae Ireland Lee and Wilbert Robert Lee, Sr. on July 26, 1931 in Hobucken, North Carolina. He attended Maury High school in Norfolk before setting out on his own as a commercial fisherman. Bob served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed at the Pine Bluff Arsenal in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. After his discharge from the Army, he resumed commercial fishing, primarily in the Florida Keys and the Gulf of Mexico. After the devastation of Hurricane Donna in 1960, Bob and Louise relocated to Norfolk, Virginia where Bob began to drive a Norfolk city bus and eventually became a driver for Preston Trucking Company. Bob retired from Preston Trucking after over 30 years of service and driving over 2 million miles safely. Bob was a member of Teamsters Local #822 and Moose Lodge 898.

A lung Cancer survivor, Bob devoted his most recent years to caring for his wife, Louise, and connecting with many friends and family via the internet. Bob will be remembered for his great love and devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as his love for animals.

Family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake on Thursday, April 10, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a Memorial Service immediately following. Interment will be private at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.
