Frederick R. (Fritz) Klutz - Rochester

Frederick R. Klutz (Fritz) was born in Minneapolis on Sept. 10, 1930, son of Fred and Allis Klutz. The family moved back to St. James in 1932. Fritz attended public schools there, graduating in 1948. He attended the University of Minnesota for a time. Returning home, he was employed by the MHD (now MnDOT) construction section on projects from South Dakota to Wisconsin, in southern Minnesota.

Uncle Sam called in September 1951, made an Army medic out of him and sent him to serve in European Command, with his release in 1953. Returning home, he returned to work for MnDOT. He ended up in Rochester, retiring in 1986.

Arrangements are made through Minnesota Cremation Society, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery at a later date, with military rites provided by Rochester American Legion.

A small service will be held at noon June 3 at the Rochester American Legion. A lunch will be served.

Fritz died May 23, 2014. No immediate family survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents; there are many relatives scattered throughout the U.S.
