Glenn Edward Wasser, 80, of Rochester, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at his home after a five-year struggle with multiple myeloma.
The Guest Book is expired.
Glenn was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Owatonna, to Edward F. Wasser and Ida Mae Wasser (nee Ogee) Irmitter. He spent his youth living in Claremont and attending Claremont schools and was a proud Claremont Parrot. On March 23, 1952, Glenn married Carol Paulson with whom he raised three children. They later divorced. On Oct. 9, 1982, Glenn married Judy (nee Ulrich) Lindberg and was blessed with a blended family with Judy's three daughters. Glenn spent 20-plus years working with the Minneapolis Star Tribune as a district representative. After retiring from the paper, his good friend, Con Odegarden asked Glenn to join him and three other plumbers to form a new company called Total Plumbing and Heating. After several successful years, Glenn decided it was time to retire and enjoy life.
Glenn always wanted to be more involved in his community, so on March 30, 1966, he joined Rochester Elks Lodge #1091, making him nearly a 50-year member of this great organization. He became an officer and was elected Exalted Ruler 1975/1976. In 1983, he served the south district as District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler. Glenn ran for and was elected South District President in 1983/84 and became state president of the Minnesota State Elks Association in 1988/89. He enjoyed playing golf, cooking, reading, having coffee with his buddies and competing with his wife, Judy playing cribbage. Above all, Glenn loved spending time and making memories with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Judy; children Michael, Michele (Scott) Berndt and Melanie (Bill) Ollhoff; stepdaughters, Deborah (Peter) LaChapelle, Diane (Dino) Ulrich and Denise Rokke; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy (Jamie) Olson, Angela (Kevin) Manahan, Melissa (Charlie) Ashton, Bill Ollhoff, Alex Wasser, Monica Frieband, Emily Wasser, Andrew Ulrich, Anthony Ulrich, Elizabeth (Tavis) Canale, Sarah Rokke and Barbara Rokke; and seven great-grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beth Jones and by his brothers, Roy and Archie.
A time of fellowship and remembrance to celebrate Glenn's life will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the Rochester Elks Lodge #1091, 1652 Highway 52 North, Rochester.
