James A. "Jim" Soukup, 78, of Rochester, died at his home Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013.

He was born Jan. 4, 1935, to William H. "Baihly" and Marie (Austin) Soukup in Owatonna. After graduating from Owatonna High School and University of Minnesota, he worked 28 years for Social Security Administration in St. Paul, Bemidji and Rochester. Jim was stationed in Germany for two years while in the Army.
In 1966, he married Mary Lou Wieman. She survives as well as nieces Jody Hoehle, Julie Chapman, Morey Wade, Michele Wade, Amy and Ryan Sturgis and their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Baihly W. Soukup.
A memorial service will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
