Patricia Staupe, 64, of La Crosse, Wis., died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, with the Rev. Dave Jore officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston.
Patricia was born April 22, 1949, in Preston, the daughter of Sanford and Arlene (Anderson) Staupe. She attended Preston High School, graduating in 1967. She graduated from the University of Minnesota, majoring in vocal music, in December 1970. She began teaching at Kee High in Lansing, Iowa, for 37-and-a-half years teaching vocal music.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, the American Association of University Women, La Crosse Branch. Patricia was and had been chairwoman of the "Art Fair on the Green," which provided scholarships for many students. She volunteered at the La Crosse Public Library. Her hobbies were her craft work with friend, Avie, participating in many craft shows.
Patricia is survived by her mother, Arlene; one brother, Lynn of Preston; three aunts; one uncle; and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sanford, brother, Dale and a baby brother. Her paternal and maternal grandparents, uncles, Loyal Woellert and Roger Anderson.
The family wishes to thank the Gundersen Health System for the wonderful care, the doctors, nurses gave her and the special concern of Chaplin Laura, Martha and Jerry.
Memorials are suggested to: AAUW-La Crosse Branch Scholarship Fund, Christ Lutheran Church-Preston, and Crown Hill Cemetery-Preston.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston, and also one hour prior to services at the church.
