Memorial services for Robert "Bob" Eugene Beyer, 80-years-old, of Rochester, will be held on Wednesday, April 9, at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 824 Church Ave., in St. Charles, with Pastor Heather E. Klason officiating. Per Robert's wishes, he was cremated.

Robert Eugene Beyer died suddenly Friday, March 28, 2014, at Saint Marys Hospital.

Robert was born Aug. 29, 1933, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, to August and Laura (Marks) Beyer. He attended rural schools. Robert Beyer served in the Army for three years, and re-enlisted for three years in the Air Force, during which time he served three terms in the Korean War. Robert married Marilyn Nicol on July 17, 1955, and they were later divorced. He later married Beverly Hawkinson Feb. 2, 2002, they later divorced but remained close friends. Robert worked at the Post Bulletin from 1968 until his retirement in 1988.

He was a very active person who loved his animals, gardening and family. Robert enjoyed cooking and sharing his creations with friends and family. He enjoyed the many travels riding his motorcycle with his close friend and riding buddy, Jon Lynch. 

Survivors include a daughter, Penny Ryan, of St. Charles; a son, Jeffrey (Lisa) Beyer, of Oronoco; four grandchildren, Robert (Lindsay) Ryan, of St. Charles, and Brianna (Dave) Ryan, of Faribault, Amy Beyer, of Burnsville, and Luke Beyer, serving in the Navy; four great-grandchildren, Shaun, Kyliee, Tessa Ryan, all of St. Charles, and Kiyanna Olson, of Faribault; and a brother, Gary Roby, of Osage, Iowa. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn; and sister, Bonnie.

Robert will be missed by family and friends.
