Blanche L. McIntyre, of Neenah, age 97, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at Bridgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Neenah.
She was born July 15, 1916, in Kewaunee, WI, daughter of Archie and Clara (Ulrich) McIntyre. Blanche is survived by several nephews, nieces, and their children. She was preceded in death by brothers, Gordon R. and Earl McIntyre, and sister, Charlotte McIntyre.
A veteran teacher and administrator in the area, Blanche retired from the Neenah School District in 1979 after 32 years of service. She taught at the Washington elementary school, and for 10 years served as the principal of Hoover School before joining the district administrative staff. She also served as president of the Neenah Education Association.
Blanche graduated from Waupun High School, received her teaching certificate from the Outagamie Normal School, her bachelor's degree in administration from Oshkosh State Teachers College (1948) and master's degree from Northwestern University (1957).
Blanche was active in a number of local and state organizations, including the Twin City Business and Professional Women where she was "Woman of the Year" in 1967. She volunteered for the Friends of Bergstrom-Mahler Museum and Theda Clark Medical Auxiliary. She also served in a number of volunteer capabilities with the First United Methodist Church, Neenah, where she taught Sunday school, directed the junior choir for 10 years, sang in the choir, and when needed, played the organ.
The memorial service for Blanche will be held on Tuesday, August 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Fuller officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of service. At her wish, Blanche will be cremated with inurnment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah.
