Edward P. Schwarz
Age 85 of Hortonville, WI, passed away on the 14th of June, 2014 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born in New Rockford, ND, the son of Edward E. and Hildamae (Loesel) Schwarz and grew up in Roseau, MN. Edward attended Marquette University in Milwaukee where he was a student in the NROTC program. Upon receiving his commission as an Ensign in 1952 he served his country in the Korean War and later served as a Naval instructor in the NROTC at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He worked for Marathon Corporation (later American Can Corporation) followed by twenty-five years with Curwood (Bemis) in New London. He was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church where he served thirty-five years as an usher. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus having served as Grand Knight of New London Father Herb Council No. 1789, and later as a charter member of Stephensville Monsignor Gehl Council 7895.
On June 25, 1955 he married JoAnn Buchman in Hortonville. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter Geri (Steve) Koeppl, Hortonville, and three sons: Randolph (Kathie), Springfield, OH; Paul (Gail), Appleton; and David (Jeannette), Slinger. He is also survived by two sisters: Donna Schwarz, Albequerque, NM and Judy (Jim) Bleier, Lakewood, WI. Grandchildren include: Michael (fiancé Nicole), Charles (fiancé Carena), Thomas, James and Ryan Koeppl; Wesley (Kelly), Nathan (Mykala), Erich (fiancé Rachel), Benjamin (Andrea), Aaron, Luke, Adam, Evan (fiancé Michelle), Jaclyn and Steven Schwarz. Great-grandchildren include Madison, Caden & Payton Schwarz, Taylor and Olivia Jones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Jacqueline and brothers Darrell and Charles.
Visitation will be held at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville Monday, June 16 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by praying of the rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the church with Fr. Jim Feely officiating, followed by internment at the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
