Eugene C. Peterson

Gene Peterson, age 66, of Appleton passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 after a short battle with esophageal cancer. He was born on January 4, 1946 to the late Chester and Gladys Peterson of Holmen, WI. In 1964, Gene graduated from Holmen High School and attended Western Wisconsin Technical College before marrying the love of his life Linda Haefner, on June 11, 1966. Shortly after he was married he joined the Air Force and proudly served his country in Guam and Thailand during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked for the next 37 years at WE Energies. Gene was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the Lake Kristine Owners Association. He enjoyed repairing small engines and anything else that needed fixing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, being at the lake, and enjoying the outdoors.

He is survived by his loving wife Linda and their daughters: Terry (Jon) Seefeldt and Kristy (Shannon) Howard. Gene was the proud grandpa of Hannah and Sam Seefeldt and Josh, Madi, and Grace Howard. He is further survived by siblings Marilyn Peterson and Larry (Mary) Peterson, many cherished in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Virgil, and grandson Nicholas.

Funeral services will be held at PRINCE OF PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11 AM with hours of visitation from 9 AM until the time of service. Rev. Gary Nokleberg and Rev. Roger McQuistion will be officiating services. Gene will be laid to rest privately at Riverside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gene's name.
