James C. Manuel
James C. Manuel, 88, of Appleton passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013. Jim was born on January 10, 1925 in Roseville, Illinois to Ora and Alma (Jackson) Manuel. He served in the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. On December 23, 1951 he was united in marriage to Peggy Kats in Peoria, Illinois. Jim graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in meat science and retired from Swift International Foods. He enjoyed singing Barbershop for over 50 years and was a member of Fox Valley Aires. He was an avid coin collector, and Packer fan, he also enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. Jim was a Boy Scout and Boy Scout leader with his sons. Jim was a member of DESRON 52, the Avon Lions Club, and Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Jim is survived by his wife Peggy, two children; Robin (Tom) Jones of Avon, Illinois, Thomas (Kara) Manuel of Appleton, a daughter-in-law, Aundria of Willmar, Minnesota, grandchildren; Kristen (Ben) Egge, Erin Manuel, Stacie (Travis) Zins, Christopher Jones, Rebecca Jones, Calvin Manuel, Morgan Manuel, five great grandchildren; Kya, Halle, Alexandria, Caedance, and Caylin, two sisters; Mary Allen and Odette Bultemeier, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one son Timothy, and two brothers-in-law; Phil Allen, and Jerry Bultemeier.
The memorial service for Jim will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 4:00 PM at the MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 803 East College Ave. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.
