Milbauer, Janet

Janet Violet Milbauer, age 92 years, of Marion passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014.

Janet was born in Appleton on December 19th, 1921 to her parents Inez and Ed Hickinbotham. She graduated from Shawano High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to James Milbauer on April 5, 1942. World War II saw James serving in the Coast Guard and Janet followed him working in Racine, WI, Buffalo, NY and Oakland, CA. After the war they returned to Marion where James and his brother John joined his father in what was to become Marion Body Works. For many years, Janet was the head bookkeeper at both the Clintonville Community Hospital (1950 to 1964) and Marion Body Works (1946 to 1976). She was a member of St. John's ELCA, the Ladies Aid, the American Legion Auxiliary of Marion, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Clintonville and St. John's Chime Choir. She also devoted over 1000 hours of volunteer time working with our veterans at King, WI. Janet was also known for her love of music, animals, travel and her wonderful sense of humor.

Janet is survived by her son, Jerry Milbauer and his wife Donna of Shawano. There are three grandchildren, Wendy (Robert Capion) Milbauer of Freeport IL, Michelle Milbauer of Shawano, and Michael Milbauer of Chanhassen, MN. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, James, one sister, Ethel (Clarence) Wundrow of Appleton, one grandson, Eric Milbauer and one great grandson Cody Laatsch.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 318 E. Garfield Ave., Marion. Rev. Bradley Dokken will officiate and burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be given to House of Hope Ministries of Marion, the Shawano County Humane Society, Safe Haven Domestic Abuse Center of Shawano or the SAFPARC (Food Pantry) of Shawano.

Jerry:

Our condolences to you for the loss of your mother. I have great memories of the cottage, (and her 63 TBird we took to Milwaukee the summer after H.S graduation.)

Janet was always one of my favorite Aunts. I have wonderful memories of all of us staying at the cottage at Shawano in the summer. I know she is happy now and with my mom, her sister, remembering all those good times.
