Kenneth O. Wege, age 86, of Clintonville, WI passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Manor Care in Appleton, WI surrounded by his family.
Ken was born on January 16, 1927 in the Town of Little Wolf, Waupaca County, west of Manawa, Wisconsin on county road B in a small farm house, son of the late Oscar and Ardella (Fietzer) Wege. In October of 1944 Ken quit high school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS LSMR 503. On October 15, 1949 Ken married "that Little Women" June Hitzke at Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville, WI. Ken was employed in Clintonville at several businesses including Tellock's Chrysler Plymouth Garage, National T Grocery and 34 years at the FWD from where he retired in March of 1991. Following retirement Ken was busy with his hobbies. He went to many antique car shows and parades with his 1948 Plymouth Business Coupe collecting well over 125 trophies. Ken had a passion for woodworking making picnic tables, benches and toy boxes. And the one hobby Ken enjoyed the most was being in the woods cutting and splitting wood to heat their home. He was a member of the American Legion Post #63 of Clintonville and a long-time member of Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville where he served as head usher for 55 years.
He is survived by his wife: June of 64 years, His children: Connie (Gary) Lendved, Little Chute; Kevin (Lynn) Wege, Beloit; 5 grandchildren, Rory (Kara) Lendved, Kaukauna, WI; Laura Lendved, Tampa FL; Whitney (Andy) Eichholz, Aviano, Italy; Kamey Wege, Beloit, WI; Will Wege, Madison, WI; 2 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Lendved, His brother Bert (Jan) Wege, Hayward, WI, His brother-in-law & sister-in-law: Norman and Joyce Hitzke, Nieces & nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Mildred (Al) Jurkonis, Hildegard (Clarence) Mittlesteadt, his sisters-in-law Joyce Hitzke Lozier and Dorothy (Bud) Daley.
Funeral services for Ken will be held 11 A.M,
Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Interment will be in the
Union Cemetery, Symco.
Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 until the time of the service.
Military Honors will be provided at the church by the American Legion Post # 63 and the
VFW Post # 664 of Clintonville.
