Gitter, Lawrence

Lawrence Gitter, 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at Riverview Hospital.

He was born March 22, 1929 to Edwin and Burnett (Rusch) Gitter. He was proud to have served his country in the Korean War from 1951-1953 in the 409th Engineer Brigade. He worked for ATandT and Wisconsin Telephone as a Central Office Repairman. Lawrence loved his family most of all.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Joan, four sons Father Paul of St. Paul, Minnesota, Gregory of Donna, Texas, George of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Edwin of Stevens Point; two daughters Donna (Daniel) Cleveland of Wausau and Ann (Tom) Lemancik of Stevens Point, four grandchildren Lisa (Ken Marley) Cleveland of Skokie, Illinois, Elizabeth Cleveland of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Daniel Lemanick of Green Bay, and Bradley Lemanick of Stevens Point; four brothers Tom (Louise) of Madison, Richard (Betty) of Shelby Township, Michigan, Peter of Hortonville, and Francis of Uma, Arizona; and one sister Rita Guzzeta of New Port Richey, Florida.

He was preceded in death by three brothers Phillip, James, and David.

Funeral Mass will be Friday February 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Paul Gitter officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Higgins Funeral Home is serving the family.
