Louis "Doc" Weisbrod Jr., M.D.
Louis "Doc" Weisbrod Jr., M.D., age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2013, at the Rennes Health and Rehab Center. He was born on June 6, 1923, and raised in Owen, Wisconsin, son of the late Florence Olson and Louis Weisbrod Sr. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving four years as a pilot during WWII. On June 6, 1946, he married Lt. Doris Anderson, R.N. and they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary before her death in 2008. Doc graduated "summa cum laude" from St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota in 1949. He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1953.
In 1955, Doc joined the New Richmond Clinic as a general practitioner and was on the staff at Holy Family Hospital in New Richmond where he practiced for 30 years. Throughout his career he delivered nearly 1,500 babies. Doc retired in 1985.
He was an avid skier, trout fisherman, golfer, reader and music lover. A life-long Episcopalian, he was always active in the church in many capacities.
Doc is survived by his three children; Mark Weisbrod of Oregon, Kathy (Brian) Pray of Milwaukee and Laurie (Brian Gruselle) Weisbrod of Appleton; his sister, Kären Larson; his brother, Graham Olson; his former son-in-law, Doug Meyer; as well as four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at ALL SAINTS EPISCOPAL CHURCH (100 N. Drew St. Appleton) with Fr. Patrick Twomey officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church are greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
