Klass, Margaret L.

Margaret Louise Klass

97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 22, 2014 at the Living Tree Estates in Greenville, WI. She was born on Dec. 4, 1916 in Chicago to Frank and Carrie (Bjordahl) Klass and lived in the Chicago and Evanston area all of her life until she made her new home in Appleton 10 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sister, Helen, and her niece, Karen Sebastian.

Margaret graduated from Northwestern University in the late 1930's with a Bachelor of Science degree. She worked for Wausau Insurance for almost 50 years. Margaret also received an Associate's degree from Moody Bible Institute by attending night classes over the course of several years. She was a faithful and long-time church member at Edgewater Baptist Church and enjoyed Moody's Candlelight & Carols, MBI Founder's week and annual Bible conferences at Winona Lake. She loved the Lord with all of her heart; she loved her family and extended family, her church, her country, her Norwegian heritage, Moody Bible Institute, traveling and the arts.

Margaret had a fun personality and good sense of humor and will be remembered for her beautiful smile, laugh and hugs. She loved driving and was known for a bit of a heavy foot. When she hugged you goodbye she always gave words of encouragement, appreciation and blessing. She never came to visit family empty-handed. She loved giving gifts.

Some of Margaret's hobbies and activities include attending the Chicago symphonies & opera, singing many years in the church choir, teaching primary Sunday school in the Methodist Church of her youth, shopping at Marshall Field's on Michigan Avenue, supporting numerous conservative organizations and ministries, and serving as head of her precinct during election times. Other highlights in Margaret's life were six different trips to Norway to see relatives, touring the Holy Land with Josh McDowell Ministry, a trip to Russia to see family, summer excursions to Door County, and numerous travels within the US with friends and family. During her earlier years in Appleton she enjoyed her time with the senior adults of Appleton Alliance Church. Margaret was a very dedicated aunt and cared for the needs of her niece, Karen, up until her passing four years ago. She also cared for her parents and sister faithfully during their final days. She was blessed with good health and energy and took her last vacation to Washington DC at age 90. She knew Christ as her Savior and loved the Lord with all her heart and is now fully at peace and rest in His care for all of eternity.

She is survived by her cousins, Alice & Wesley Shaver, Harold and Diane Hoyem, Gary & Nancy Shaver, David Shaver, Doug and Linda Shaver, Carrie Brault, Sandy & Terry Uecke and their families as well as extended family in Norway. Services for Margaret will be held at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Home at 11 am on Saturday, April 26, 2014 with Rev. Dick Schaefer officiating. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10 am followed by the service. She will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, IL.

Margaret and her family are grateful to the wonderful and caring staff of the Touchmark, Living Tree Estates, and Southern Care Hospice for her recent care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Moody Bible Institute, 820 N LaSalle Blvd, Chicago Illinois,
