Nancy Carolyn (Griesser) Fyfe

Nancy died of cancer at Cherry Meadow Hospice at 1:15 AM Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
She was born on April 22, 1933 in Detroit Lakes, MN to the late Carolyn Lund Hawkinson and Hjalmer (Jam) Clarence Hawkinson. The family moved to Minneapolis when she was five and later to Wilmette, IL. Nancy graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL, attended Patricia Stevens Modeling School on a scholarship, and then attended Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.
In 1952 she married Richard Hans Griesser, the father of her six children, at James Conally AFB in Waco, Texas. They lived in Glenview, IL before moving to Menasha, WI in 1966. Nancy loved staying at home with her children when they were young, and had many varied interests which she pursued and enjoyed. A very creative and artistic person, she constantly busied herself with home projects such as decorating, wallpapering and painting, as well as modeling in local fashion shows. She became an Avon representative and was a member of the Presidents' Club for years, winning many awards. After her divorce in 1980 she worked as a receptionist at the former Behm Motors for 12 years. In 1990 she married her dear friend and the love of her life, Donald McGregor Fyfe. They had 22 wonderful years together with travel and time spent each fall in Scottsdale, AZ and winters in FT. Myers, FL.
Nancy had a great love for her family and took enormous pride in the accomplishments of her children as they became adults. She is survived by her husband Don, two sons: Rick (Becky) Griesser of Sherwood, Chris Griesser of Appleton and four daughters: Terri (Tom) Schultz of Appleton, Gina Kennedy of Waupaca and Haines City, FL, Cathy (Fran) Parolini of Neenah, and Sue (Jay) Knowles of Appleton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Richie (Samantha) Griesser of Madison and Emily Griesser of St. Paul, MN; Amie (Brian) Berggren of De Pere, Courtney Schultz of Appleton and J.T. Schultz of Plymouth, MN; Michael (Danni) Parolini of Plymouth, MN and Gina Parolini (fiancé Kyle Schwebke) of Appleton; Whitney Knowles of Milwaukee and Taylor Knowles of Appleton; great-granddaughter Madisyn Berggren and great-grandsons Jack Parolini, Isaac Griesser and Case Berggren; a sister-in-law Mary Ellen Hawkinson, nephew Brad Hawkinson and nieces Kelly Hawkinson and Holli Batti. Other survivors are Donald's two children Douglas (Linda) Fyfe and Sheila Fyfe (Mark Cohen), his grandchildren Ross (Laura) Fyfe and Geoffry Fyfe and his step-grandchildren Patrick and Andrew Rock, and Donald's brother Fred (Midge) Fyfe. Nancy is also survived by her first husband, Richard Griesser, Sr.
Nancy was preceeded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Hawkinson, and her son-in-law Dr. William F. Kennedy.
Visitation will be from 10:00 -11:00 A.M. on Saturday November 17, 2012 at the First Congregational Church 724 E. South River Street Appleton 54915, with a memorial service to follow, Rev. Jane Anderson presiding. Please, no flowers. Memorials can be made to Martha Seikman Cancer Center or First Congregational UCC. Her wish was to be cremated. Her ashes will be co-mingled with those of her husband upon his death, and will be buried at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton, WI.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Martha Seikman Cancer Center, the 7th floor Oncology Unit at Appleton Medical Center, and Cherry Meadows Hospice for their loving care.
